THIS IS OUR PROJECT
This is an enormous project that the committee has been striving to achieve and everyone around the community has been talking about it. Once completed, the new community building will look very similar to the picture shown below. How nice would it be if the empty lot behind our temple had a nice building like this for our community to gather in. When completed, the building will be called the Lao Community Center of Westminster, although many of us currently refer to it as simply "The Hall".

The Lao Buddhist Temple held a 3rd meeting in regards to the development of the Lao Community Center in Westminster Colorado, on June 10, 2007. The 9th committee would like to thank everyone for showing up and participating in the public hearing.
As of right now, the Lao Buddhist Temple, the 9th committee members, and a small group of the community who attended the meeting have not come to any concrete decisions on the possible development of the Lao Community Center. A majority of the people who attended the meeting would like to do a survey before making any decisions. We would like a response from everyone in the community, or at the very least, 75 to 80 percent of everyone in the community.
Project Summary:
The cost for the new Lao Community Center project will be around $450,000 to $500,000 dollars. No estimated time frame will be available until a decision is made by the entire community. The operating expense per month is estimated to be around $6,000 dollars per month. Other factors, such as material, the cost of increased energy consumption, and the increase in insurance are the primary reasons for the estimated high cost. Repair and Maintenance, time management of the facility, and cleaning are also included in the monthly operating cost estimated. Please remember these are estimate numbers which can vary later.
Ott Thammasine has volunteered to take charge of the essential survey; he will be contacting Lao people within the community. Please help spread the news to family and friends because this project is vital to our continued livelihood and preservation of our culture and religion in the state of Colorado. The deadline for this survey is on June 23, 2007. Please see picture of what the new Community Center could look like if we, the Lao community, can unit and make this attainable dream possible. Without your generosity and donation no new improvements can be possible at our beloved Lao Buddhist Temple. Please help and get involved.
We Need Help from Everyone and see if we can pitch in $20.00 a month per family for backup on the building expense once it is up. This backup plan may need 6 months to a year. |
